g 1994 - 2006:  12 years of active duty  h

Relegatus society doesn´t exist in its original and famous form since September 2006. Here is some remembrance of its recent activities:

Relegatus was formed in Prague (Czech Republic) in 1994 as a hand-to-hand combat group. After more years of education, the society was able to create its own performances and take part on castle and town festivals throughout the Czech Republic. The biggest success in these years was in the attendance as stuntmen/fencers at the Czech National Theater in Giuseppe Verdi`s La Forza del Destino, in Shakespeare`s Romeo & Juliet or our film experiences: Joan of Arc, Young Ivanhoe, Mysts of Avalon and many more....All members began to study not only Talhoffer`s Fechtbuch - a German manuscript of fencing styles from late 15th century-, but also the historical style of life, clothing, cuisine, technologies, like how to forge a sword, helmet, how to make chainmail or purses. Our society Has been often taken as an authority in matters of medieval life in many czech and german swordfighting societies.

So the society was well known throughout Europe on the castles and town festivals: for example Chateau Chillon, Granson, Dornach, Rappersvil, Lenzburg (Switzerland), Chateau Chinon, Montguyon, Taillebourg or Les Arcs (in France), Burg Stargard, Weesenstein, Falkenstein, Dresden, Bernau... (Germany) or the biggest festivals in Odense (Denmark), Herstmonceux castle (England)

Since fall 2006 the name Relegatus is used by a brand new economical unit created by pupils of fencing school Fenri, led by one of the former society members.

The former Relegatus was together 6 members but we cooperated with more (up to 60) members from our sister-societies in CZ and Switzerland.

Our Compact festival program we usualy performed in 6-member squad. (of course with full equipment: historical tents, utensils, weapons, armours etc) program includes 2-3 fight exhibitions a day, participation on parades etc. and re-creating medieval life in meantime.

We sought to create all aspects of life in the period; food, crafts, warfare, pastimes, in fact everything that made up the life of these medieval mercenaries. Relegatus laid great stress on all manner of details that comprise the clothing, weaponry, artefacts and most importantly, the culture of this distant age.
